There are all kinds of different trucks on the market, enough to match just about any kind of lifestyle you can think of. At Bob King Buick GMC, we want to highlight diesel trucks, a special type of vehicle with a range of capabilities. Here’s a look at some options when you’re looking for diesel trucks for sale.

Duramax® 6.6L Turbodiesel V8

Available on the GMC Sierra HD, the 6.6L Duramax® Turbodiesel V8 engine features the Allison® 10-speed automatic transmission, an innovative drivetrain with closer gear spacing to allow optimal engine performance.

This engine generates 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque, for a maximum towing capacity of 36,000 lbs.

Duramax® 3.0L Turbodiesel

Available on the GMC Sierra 1500 and the GMC Yukon, the Duramax® 3.0L Turbodiesel engine is a powerful middle ground for more casual towing and hauling. It will fit in your GMC SUV or truck and generate 460 lb-ft of torque.

The horsepower and towing capacity differ on each model with this engine. The GMC Sierra 1500 has 277 horsepower and a maximum towing of 9,300 lbs. with this engine.

The GMC Yukon offers slightly less with 227 horsepower and 8,100 lbs. of towing, which is still spectacular for an SUV.

Duramax® 2.8L Turbodiesel

Available on the GMC Savana and GMC Canyon, the Duramax® 2.8L Turbodiesel engine is best for relatively lighter loads... but even these light loads can mean business.

Generating 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque on both models, the GMC Savana and GMC Canyon max out at 7,700 lbs of towing capacity. The GMC Savana van is capable of a bigger payload than the GMC Canyon, however, with 3,960 lbs. versus 1,470 lbs. in the GMC Canyon truck.
